It is becoming fall at Groff Memorial Park. This week the Sugar Maples began to turn color.

The PawPaw Day was wet, but sweet. Visitors tasted ripe pawpaw fruit AND enjoyed ice cream churned by our team of experts. Thanks to everyone who participated to make this a fun day. Groff Memorial Park was delighted to have volunteers from Grace Family Church contributing their labor and spirit last Sunday (August 26). Crews painted the park furniture and bridge and pulled bushels of weeds! ... See MoreSee Less

The Serviceberry (Amelanchier) trees are bearing fruit now! There are three mature Serviceberry trees in the park. Look for purple-pink berries. Try them!

Serviceberries bloom in early May and bear during the first and second week of June. They are sweet/sour and taste much like sour cherries. Great for a snack, and if you can collect enough, great for pies, tarts, and jam. A favorite of our pioneering ancestors!
